Our newest precious patient, Delaram, arrived from Iran after being on the waiting list for more than a year. She is a lovely, cheerful young lady who was learning English phrases within hours of her arrival in the U.S. so she could talk with her caregivers.
Delaram was born with cloacal exstrophy, and needed major reconstructive surgery. We are happy to report that she successfully came through eight hours of surgery and has been recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital. The doctors are delighted with her progress, she is walking and undergoing physical therapy, and she has started solid foods again. Her discharge has been delayed a little, so your prayers and donations are always welcome, but generally the surgery went better than anyone expected.

New Patients
Delaram is coming along excellently, and we are now preparing for our next two patients - Cyrus is a little boy that we heard about very recently - he has a brain tumor, and the doctors here need to examine him as soon as possible, with a view to treating him - we are in the process of obtaining all requirements for the visa application procedure. Davood is another little boy who we have been monitoring for a year and a half for cardiovascular problems. The doctors now feel that he should be brought over for surgery, and he will be coming to Minneapolis later this year. With your help, we will be able to arrange the best possible treatment for them.

Financial Reports - Update
In the financial reports section (under ABOUT US) you'll find the 2008 Audited Financials, along with an interim report for 2009 through the month of November. We have also added financial information on the patients the Foundation has recently helped. Also, please note that our accountants - Lurie Besikof Lapidus & Company, LLP - have asked that discounts be reported as donations. Therefore we now include the total patient billed amount in expenses, and any discounts on the medical services as a donation, along with donations from our generous supporters. __________________________
